Welcome Message from The Chairman, Organizing Committee

Dear Colleagues

It is a pleasure to support this Inaugural Conjoint Meeting between the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in July 2007 in Pattaya, Thailand.  Australia and New Zealand have a long association with Thailand both generally and in particular in surgery.  Our Younger Fellows have an interchange program for the Annual Scientific Meetings of both our Colleges.  The 2007 combined Scientific Meeting will cement this relationship further.

Scientifically the overall theme of Surgery in the Future and the sub themes of Trauma and Oncology have great relevance to both Colleges and to our respective communities.  The Convenors, Dr Michael Hollands and Major General Nopadol Wora-Urai have constructed a scientific program of eclectic interest and this should have wide appeal to Fellows of both our Colleges.  Add to this the renowned Thai hospitality and the ambience of Pattaya and we have a meeting which should attract a lot of interest.

I encourage you to register and for Australian and New Zealand Fellows there is a wonderful opportunity to investigate the delights of Thailand further afield.  On behalf of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, I welcome this opportunity to thank Professor Vithya Vathanophas and the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand for promoting and hosting this combined meeting which will not only be stimulating scientifically but will further strengthen the bonds between our countries.

Dr. Russell Stitz
